beetle vs. ford ranger

I was on a road near my house, and I was pulling up to a stop light. I had a green ford ranger pull up next to me. He kept pulling forward a little bit and the right lane ends up ahead so I was assuming he was going to try to cut me off.

The light turned green and I launched it pretty low, and bogged it like hell. He pretty quickly pulled ahead about 2 car lengths. I got through 1st, and at the top off first I spun the tires just a little bit(cold street and sandy). 2nd gear I came up, and pulled 1-2 car lengths, just into 3rd gear around 65mph.

I'm a little embarassed, I think I could have done better if I hadn't bogged it so bad. In the future i'll try to get more races on video. I have a few lined up already. beetle vs: saturn vue v6, plymouth acclaim v6, '95 mustang 5 speed, and a lexus sc300.
