Recently, I noticed water frozen underneath the trunk. The carpet is all wet during warm weather. I'm positive it's from condensation. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Without going to a shop...TIA

Strip out all the trunk trim, have some one climb in there, close the trunk and spray down the car and look for water intrusuion, spray around the tailites also. Try and get used to posting the year and model also.

and spray around the rear glass, too, and the spoiler (if equipped)
you might be able to see by sitting in one of the back seats with the other one folded forward

my Intrigue trunk will sometimes spill water in after it has rained. You lift the trunk hood and 2-3 seconds later you have water pouring in from nowhere.
for the time being you can buy materials that will suck up that moisture.
desiccants: (water absorbers)
calcium chloride is what is used as Ice Melter up here in Canada. A 40 lb bag is like $20 at any Ukranian Tire, Home Depot, Revy. etc.
A tip on coco coir....dont ask for coco coir. Ask for a brick shaped brown kinda compressed gardening shit. I spent way too long discussing what it was with the local shops and then saw a rack of it on my way out. It just wasn't labeled coco coir, and the salespeople thought I was coco-nuts
Price was $2.99 /brick.
The reptile stuff is $9.00 /brick at Petland.

Maybe it is not condensation. Once I parked my Intrigue at the airport for a week when I flew to Las Vegas. While I was gone, the airport had had several large thunderstorms. When I got back and opened the trunk I notice water in the trunk lid. A few days later I took out the spare tire and discovered the tire well had about a 1/2 inch of water and all the insulation on the floor of trunk was soaked. Had to take it all out to dry out in the sun. Anyway, after I put it all back together I covered the floor with craft paper and took it to the car wash. None of the paper got wet. That was a a year and a half ago and since then no water in the trunk and I have driven through several rainstorms. My conclusion is that somehow the trunk lid was popped open by somebody else's remote control at the airport..

Another possible cause of water in the trunk is that the rubber gasket that's supposed to seal it is being obstructed. In my case, I run my XM antennta through it and occastionally get a little water in the trunk lid that will pour out when I open the trunk. A pin-sized gap somewhere is enough for water to seep in.

Update, it's a 2000 intrigue GLS. Now that the weather is warmer, I actually did see the condensation underneath the trunk lead. It was pretty bad, the stickers were peeling off.
I'm going to silicon the weather stripping.
