Bad lights on Climate Control Buttons

My '96 Regal with the 3.8 has the 8-button dual climate control panel. The backlight for the 4 buttons on the right is out. Is it one bulb or 4 bulbs for each button. I need a good memory at night driving down the road if I want to push one of those buttons. What's the fix?

i wish i could give you a definate answer, but i can only suggest taking the thing apart for a visual inspection. You will see when you have it apart. Do you know how to use a multi-meter or a test light?

Yup, I can use a multi tester. Sold enough of them in the 80's and 90's with Radio Shack, I better be able too. Keep the Rat Shack jokes to yourselves please. The fun part will be getting the trim off without breaking a half a dozen clips in the process.

I think unfortunately I've got a bigger issue then a blub or 2. There are 2 square buttons on the far left and a cluster of 8 from middle to the right edge. The 2 left buttons and the 4 on the left of the cluster of 8 are out. The 4 on the right and the slide controls are lit.

Wish me luck.

you'll only need 5 to 8 of those clips if you dont mind the possibility of a rattle...:grinyes:

Well, I got the trim off without destroying anything. Unbolted the climate control module but for the life of me, could not get plugs undone on the back of the unit. Looks like the real way is to have a special tool that feathers out the connectors so you can slid them off. Am I right or is there another trick to get these things off?

I figured out how to get the head itself disassembled but that's not the way to get anything fixed, with the module still plugged in to everything.
