Hello My name is Joe. I have a 2001 Kia Sportage 4x4, 4 CYC, 5 speed standard, soft cover top. I have a light that come on the dash that say my hatchback is open. I checked the hatchback door, it's close good and tight. The wires that go to the door is still good. I locked all the doors, and the light would still be on. If i leave it alone for a day and a half, it would drain the battery enough so that it would not start. I don't have any clue as of how that "hatchback door open" icon light thing works, because there's only one wire to the door in the back. Thanks for you help - Joe

...mmmwait out....this dahsboard indicator is a tiny lamp...so this one 's not draining the battery in 36 hours...otherwise mine would have drained three dozen times.... or does the inside roof light stay ON? THis one will drain the battery rather fast.

Pull the bulb until you find out weather the switch is bad. Usually the switch is bad allowing the light to remain on.
