1990 Dakota No start...

I have a 1990 Dodge Dakota 3.9L V6 Auto Tranny. The truck is not getting spark or fuel. Sometimes it will start and run but as soon as you give it gas it dies. The cab reeks of fuel. The longer I wait the better chance I have of it starting. There is no fuel leak anywhere. I have replaced the MAP sensor, Fuel filter and Fuel Pump. Before realizing it wasnt getting spark. I figure that it is the pick up coil in the distrubutor or the crankshaft sensor. I was wondering if anyone would know for sure what the problem is?

I would first check the ground wires for tightness. Look by the relays next to fender. Feel if they click when you try to start.
My elect. diagram doesn't show a crank sensor for a 1990 3.9L.
Use a 12volt test light put it on the coil neg. if it blinks when somebody is cranking the engine the pickup in the dist. is good unless it is dim.
Look for the fuel pump ground. Their should be a ground front of drivers side head.

FYI: for anyone with a similar problem. It was the pickup coil in the distributor.
