Having Problem With Transmission Not Changing Into High Gear, What Can I Do About It

I assume its an automatic? If so its a 700r4 transmission. They are known for sticky valves or burnt valves. Sounds like at least a valve body rebuild, but its not much more to just have it replaced with a rebuilt tranny.
More info might help us, too. Is it a half ton, 3/4 ton, 5.7, 7.4? How many miles?
