Temperature Gauge

Has anyone had a problem with their temperature gauge where it doesn't move very much? Mine doesn't go below the 1/4 mark when cold, and doesn't reach the 1/2 mark when at operating temperature. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I've got an 2004 VUE redline and the temp. gage usually runs about half way at normal operating temp. But, when the engine is cold the gage needle goes all the way down to "C". Maybe the sensor for the gage needs replaced.
