ok i have had alot of problems with my blazer, tranny sensors, engine problems, sinkin it in the pond. and when i thought she had gone through it all, tonight was the last straw. drivin down the road i heard an enormously loud explosion, folowed by a large flame shooting out and up from under my blazer. i coasted to my buddys house, bout 500 ft away, looked under and what did i see?? well my piston rod was laying ontop of my skid plate. i looked up, and there was no sign of the piston. there were shards of metal everywhere, and i could fit a fist and a half in the hole on the engine.. i had just done an oil change no more than 2 weeks ago, checked my levels yesterday, and they were fine. now there was a slight misfire on Cyl. 6. and thats the one i was holding in my hand earlier tonight. thought i had gotten it fixed, but i guess not. not sure if shes worth tryin to fix, put a new motor in, or get a jeep grand cherokee laredo. anyone got any input on what i should do,and/or what caused this catastrophy?

Stick with the the 4.3, a much easier swapout. And avoid sinking it in the pond next time, or if you do keep her running as long as you can to dry her out evenly. you may have kept the top end above water and kept her running while not noticing you had already caused a fatal condition in the lower end. water sucks off heat fast.

ya the water was bout 35 degress, and it shut off as soon as it sank, it sank nose first. submerged up to the top of the steering wheel. but i have disconected all the wires hoses and stuff like that, loosend the tranny bolts, but i cant figure out how to get ot the motor mount. any one got any expereince on that?! it would be greatly appreciated, i am planin on gettin her back on the road by saturday, does that sound unresonable? found a new motor, $650 with 80,000 on it, or $700 for 70,0000 on it. i was lookin forward to that 305, but oh well. so yes, if anyone has any tips, advice, pointers, anything to help me get this motor out i would appreciate it sooo much, thanks! and does a 95 2dr tranny fit a 97 4dr ??

same trannys are used (4l60e) reguardless of cab configuration. getting at the motor mounts are a pain. you can't really get at them fromt the top so you have to get them from the bottom. i was workin on a friends 95 and we had pretty good access to the mounts (although the whole front axle was out of the truck  )

No. They are different. The '95 is a unique year for the 4l60e tranny in these trucks.

well i did just that, took a sawsall to the radiator support, that worked well and smoothly, it was pretty rusted anyways. heres a tip for anyone removing these engines, take the radiator support off!!( unbolt it though) u get straight on with the motor mounts. saves you from either having to go from underneath or work your way around the damn steering shaft. anyone know what i have to do to get the tranny off? or is it just unbolt it from the motor and im in the clear?

anyone know how to get the torque converter off? If you have same oil pan as in my car (aluminium which covers tranny). Remove right side wheel, remove starter and cover plate and you can access torque conv bolts from there..

ok... i have unbolted everything possible on that motor/tranny, and the torque converter and they still wont separate. i dont know what im doing wrong. does anyone know if i have to drop something else? There's a small hole covered with plate underneath on tranny side, where you can see converter and flexplate. Put a screwdriver between torqconv and flexplate and try to separate them. Converter should slide backwards a little bit.
There is 3 converter bolts and 9 bolts between tranny and engine.
