My 02' 330ci was extremely dependable and a blast to drive. However, once the warranty ended it has been driving me to the poor house. I just replaced the throttle body last week. A few days later the Service Engine Soon light popped up on the dash. The dealer now claims it needs a new wiring harness at the cost of $1,200.00 and contol arm bushings for $350.00 ...My car just hit 50K...Is it expected for the wiring harness/ bushings to go bad after only four years or am I getting hosed???? :banghead:

control arm bushings are comon but if you just got out of warrinty the dealer should have attempted to goodwilll the the harness for you sounds like you need to find a new dealer. and the throotle body and harness sounds like duplicate repaires for the same issue (what ever that was) i would go back and complain.

Replacing the wire harness because the check engine light came on sounds really dubious. I wouldn't trust such a diagnosis. I wonder what ODBII code caused the light to come on. I'd get a second opinion. Wiring harnesses should last the lifetime of the car, unless they were damaged in an accident or something similar.
