The other day I spun my tires on some snow while in 2 wheel drive, when the tires hit dry pavement the rear end started making a clunking noise and jerking, I stopped then tried going again same thing , then backed up still the same, thought I was going to have to call a tow truck, tried to go one more time and everything was ok. It's been ok ever since, any ideas ???
It's a 2002 4wd with limited slip rear differential 60,000 miles

Hard to say. Could have been something with the G80 'locking' mechanism. Either way, I'd get that diff cover off ASAP for an inspection, cleaning and refill of new M1 75w-90 (or brand of your choice). No limited slip additive is needed, plus the rear diff cover gasket is a very nice reusable metal/rubber gasket. The rear diff oil was BLACK on my 2005 at ~22Kmi, with lots of black paste on the magnet.
