Just wanted to pass this on to others who might be having this trouble.
My 2005 Ranger 4cyl auto with 25000 miles has been shifting oddly for about 15000 miles. It was kind of an intermittent problem, but it seemed to act up at about 30mph and only when the truck was warm. It was shifting very harshly and sometimes would slip a shift, as if the truck was in neutral briefly. It is still under warranty, so I took it in and they said that the entire transmission case has to be replaced. Apparently, the case has a crack in it and the pressure inside the transmission is dropping creating the shifting trouble.
So, if you are experiencing anything like this have it chacked out. The problem was much more serious than I thought it was going to be. The dealer has had my truck for 9 days waiting on parts. :frown:
I also had to have the passenger airbag deactivation switch replaced because it was bad.
