post moved. Don't hijack other people's threads. NY required 2 plates, I never put my front one on, drove it for 3 years there, no ticket.

We need them here and i drove with it in my windsheild for about 3 months and then got pulled over for it. So i dont know if they enforce it much there but they do in ND, they have to be ON your front bumper here:frown:

That is also the law here in Utah and I've never had a problem. I refuse to put a front plate on ANY of my cars.

I was stopped and given a fix it ticket for having no front plate in NE. I always thought that was the law in every state.

Jersey definitely isnt the only East coast state requiring it. VA also requires em. As for how they are attached there should be a bracket on the front crash bar then it exposes in front of the bumper cover.

TX requires 2 plates as well, but i haven't put my front plate back in 2 yrs. looks much better w/o it. i keep the plate in the trunk, just in case. but i've been pulled over for speeding a time or 2 and the officer never mentioned the plate (probably b/c he approached from the rear and never crossed the front of my car).

ive got mine in my front window as well (illegal in ny)

from my personal experience, they probably wont stop you specifically for not having the front plate, but if you get stopped for something else (say, speeding for example ) theyre either gonna tack it on if they wanna be a jerk, or they may say, "im feeling nice, so ill just give you a warning for the speed, but im gonna give you a ticket for no front plate"

if i ever do get hastled about it, im just gonna be say, i bought the car out of state and theres no place to put it exept in the front window, and im not gonna drill holes in my bumper. hopefully he wont actually go look under the bumper lol

well, if u were in my shoes, 5 different tickets, a nj cop will come up with nething to give out a ticket, and i think that if it's just in thte windshield, its leagle in nj, it's just got to be seen

It's a law in Wisconsin also. I choose to disregard that one though. Been pulled over a few times for it over the 2 1/2 year period of owning this car, all warnings. Just tell the cop it never came with a bracket, so you weren't sure how to mount it. They will let you off almost everytime and just tell you to get a bracket at a dealer in the near future.
