Does anyone know where I might be able to get a 1:24 kit of the 1985 Corvette? I really just need the L98 engine for another project, so if there's a resin engine kit out there that would be good also.
Thanks in advance for any info.

I'm pretty sure there's a kit of every Corvette ever, from either AMT or Revell. Either would have a detailed TPI engine. You could also get one out of a 3rd gen f-body kit, 85-92. A quick ebay search will find what you're looking for.

There's one on EBAY for $16,00, both Monogram and MPC made 85 Vettes but the MPC version is 1:25, and the Monogram is 1:24
Here's the Monogram

i'm not 100% sure but i'm think this is the MPC 85 Boxart

If you just need the motor, any '85-91 vette(non ZR1 or Callaway) would work. The basic motor in a Callaway should work, just omit the turbos.
The MPC ones have very nice engines in them, with the intake broken down just like the real one.
The f-body thing's not a bad idea, but there were a number of engine combos available including TBI, so make sure the kit has the TPI in it.

Indeed, sorry, forgot the mention that--any 85-91 vette, any 85-92 F-body. And ya, certainly double check that it has a tpi motor first ;)

true about the F-body, the AMT 89 Firebird pace car is a V6

If my memory serves correct(and it hardly ever does lately) a number of the old f-body kits came with TBI motors.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Actually, I need the 1:25 version (I guess I need to look a little closer at what I'm doing!) and while I couldn't find anything on Ebay this morning, there is one MPC 'vette with a buy it now of $14.99 + $6.01 shipping on there now.
I'm kind of surprised that these kits aren't more readily available. Not just the Corvette, but the Camaro of that era was very popular. I thought for sure that I'd be able to just pick one up somewhere.
white97ex: If you do have one you'd like to part with let me know. Thanks for the offer.

I'll try and go through one of my parts boxes this weekend. I've got tons of parts from the AMT vette set from several years back
