2002 Intrepid Se Trans question?

Hi all...
A friend of mine has a 02 Intrepid with some trans issues. He said he is having hard shifting, at times it slams into gear, at times it has delayed shifts. He said the fluid smells burnt, but is still cherry red. The car has over 40K on it. I told him that he should get his trans serviced (New fluid/Filter) as soon as possible. I dont know what the recommended schedule is for his car? Anyone have any other ideas on this? Thanks Tom :banghead:

The 1998 and up transmissions do not got out and sit on the shelves in auto salvage yards.Does the check engine light come on or the speedometer work?Automatic electronic transmissions shift when the speedometer works.It is a speed sensor going out and the question is which one is going out.There are two of them.Get the fluid and filter changed right away
