well if there cheap ebay coilovers i hoenstly dotn reccommend them. all though be it fun its jsut a waste. if its a coilover suspension like skunk2 or tein suspension then well yes i do say its good and what you should know is have lots of air tools at yoru side. and replace thigns while your there.

well everyones opinions differ..i had skunk2 coils on my civic and i had more bounce then my boys civic with frickin $30 ebay coilovers..alot of ppl run those ebay ones and there seems to be alot of satisfied folks with um.. as for the install..its pretty straight forward..just keep in mind u will need a camber kit and its definately recommended to get a alighnment after tearing ur suspension apart

will i need a camber kit if i dont lower it more than 1.5"? also, anything i should look out for on a used set? the set ive got a line on are tein super streets. they seem to be leak free but at the top mount there seems to be a padding material thats worn that im afraid will rattle, thoughts?

a lot of guys recommend a camber kit...truthfully I don't have one and my drop is way below normal..the lack of a camber kit gives the car a really racey look and I have not had any adverse problems..my tires are marshall(kumho) and have over 70,000 on them..no abnormal tire wear..as long as the toe is set I don't really see the need for a camber kit, I've driven through some intense snowstorms to, so if the camber kit is so necessary I would think I would have been in the ditch by now. I will say that I have to replace the tie rod ends once a year, but other than that everything is still solid on her

well i had a set of ebay coilovers as well still do. but i had it slammed so i didnt get much travel. but theres ok isuppose. ive been told anythign over 1.8 inchs is abotu were youll have your problems. ive got tein coils with a 1.5 inch drop and the camber isnt bad. still need an alignment though.

I'm lowered 2 inches with Neuspeed sports and havent gotten a camber kit yet. My tire wear is actually even, as is my alignment. Plus i've heard most kits, even the good ones, don't last that long.

I heard having some neg. camber actually benefits your handling, especially on turns, etc. as you gain extra traction versus losing that same traction in stock form. However, I do accept that like neg. 3-4 plus degrees in camber is excessive.

yeah some is the key word. and when its tuned with a camber kit and corner weighted properly it helps.
the average AF idiot that slams his/her car isn't going to experience the benefits of negative camber.

i don't even think a lowered car looks good. the vast majority of people who will see your car won't like it. but hey, to each his own. those people are just old boring squares or whatever. besides, to each his own. it's your car.
however, come drive that lowered car on the streets down here in and around new orleans. perhaps you'll miss the extra cushion you're effectively removing.
over a decade ago, my parents owned an old '85 crx. no mods. normal crx height. on a normal pothole, the front edge of the frame just caught the lip of that hole one day when my dad didn't see it and hit it, and the frame bent so badly the car could never be aligned again.
imagine how bad you can screw up your car if it's lowered even more.
again, to each his own.

I do agree that lowered cars are sexy as fuck when done properly. Slammed and clean with 13-15 inch wheels.
I think the dude who posted pics of his flooded garage was incubuss or something like that.

ive had ebay coils installed for about a year, they ride decent enough. then i rode in my buddys BMW with real coilovers, and it kicked the shit out of my shitty ride. if you want a low car for $60, do it. Get a wheel alignment right after you lower it, or you will regret it. you may or may not need a camber kit for the front. wait till you see how slanted the wheels are after its low. um for rear camber install washers. search for pictures/directions. im 100% satisfied with the fact my car looks good while sitting and only cost me $60 extra. If i could do it all again, i would spend the extra $ on real coilovers.
good luck

the bmw is older than me, and worth less than my civic, either way trying to help provide information comparing the suspension components not the cars.
