check out www.toucanindustries.com

a guy in the UK speaks highly of them and claims that it can produce 7BHP at the wheels. Is he talking rubbish or is it a good filter. I am thinking of purchasing it along with the cold intake extension.

Please comment.

I'm not sure how VAT would affect the price of importing one, but the HS CAI will produce that much power and is only $200. Is the price you quote from a dealer in the UK or is that the delivered price from the US?

There are a lot of people who claim all sorts of power increases for air filters and assorted accessories that are pure poppycock. I don't know about this one, but the HS CAI is a known commodity proven to add that much hp in numerous independent dyno pulls.

i want the HS CAI but dont think anyone in the UK can import it for me, and importing myself can be a hassle. Im looking into it right now, but ive decided that its the one i NEED!

What are the hassles you are running into?

You could probably also have one custom made for you for a pretty reasonable price. All that is needed is some mandrel bends and some pipe, some connectors, and a filter.

its all down to UK customs, duty and taxes. im importing a stillen spoiler from NZ and it will only go as far as Heathrow airport which is over 300 miles away! luckily, ive a friend who can pick it up and send it on, but i cant expect him to do that everytime i want something, you see.

Ive looked into having the pipes made, but i need at least 3 bends, and in 3" diameter, they come in ready bent elbows at £40 each, thats probably $50-$60each, it would workout costing more than buying the HS CAI

Ouch. Yeah, that makes it a bugger.

Hmmm. I'm surprised there are no Primera owners from London on this forum. I'm also surprised there aren't freight companies that can calculate the various taxes and duty and add it to the cost of shipping to your door. I'd like to think there is a better solution out there, but admittedly am no help. :(

YIKES!! Somebody is very proud of their mandrel bends. I've got to believe there is a source that is cheaper than that. I paid about $15 each. With the motorsports industry in Great Britain I would think mandrel bends would be readily available for a cheap price. Have you tried Demon Tweaks? I've got to believe you can find a better price.

Re: the bends, Have you tried an exhaust shop for those donut bends people use for making extractors??

Its hard to find companies that can fabricate specific things. The motor tuners tend to be more midlands and down south, whereas im up in the north east of England. Ive thought about just approaching companies who deal with tubilar metals and ask them to make one, but they look at you and think you're stupid or something, and tell you that its gonna cost a fortune. The main point is, its hard to find someone who can bend 3" dia piping around here, and buying the bends is out of the question, so the alternative is to find something that fit from the UK, like this Reactive filter, or find an easier way to import thje HS CAI, the one i prefer.

Ive seen those Air Filters with heat shields on heaps of cars in New Zealand. In NZ they are made by Simolta. They did a test in a car magazine. They ran a car on a dyno with no airfilter and measured performance. Then they ran it with different brands of air filter. The simolta one was one of the best, only reducing the power output by a kw or so. Lots of cars i have seen tape some ducting pipe onto the heat shield and run it to a point at the front of the car behind the spoiler or grille. This way they can get cold air directly from the front of the car. Ive heard it works really well.
