A long time ago I was in the credit card trap once...ONCE. I don't have any cards anymore.
Only way out of that trap is to not use it anymore, pay 3x the minimum payment (at least) until it's paid off, then move to the next one, rolling what you paid to the previous card into the one you're paying off next.
Or grandma. :icon16:

Not counting school, I owe less than a grand, mainly to misc. family members. With tuition, I probably owe close to 8 grand (and I'm in my sophomore year...).
The nice part is that I have a nice grandma too who stashed away a ton of CD's in the bank that will mature at about the time I graduate. Not only will I get my school debt paid off, but I'll prolly have plenty left over for a down payment on a car or a house or something... but untill then I'm dirt friggen poor.
And I don't have a credit card as of yet. I might get one over the summer to build credit by buying gas with it...and having a way to get emergency car parts would be nice too...

it does. being an under-19 home student means college is 100% free.
however, i'm sure i'll be in debt soon, seeing as how i'm trying to move to the US and study at UTI.
my sister goes through life debt free because being oh-so-special my parents pay for all her stuff. which is a load of crap if you ask me.

i'm in debt to my parents for $4,000 for university tuition, they pay for all but $4,000 (an agreement they had with me and my two sisters) and if i move out next year they'll pay for either my car or my housing, not both. they're currently paying for: university, gas, food, insurance.
i just got turned down for a credit card.

First semester of college was paid for, however I didn't do so well, so next year won't be so nice. And I owe my parents a lot for insurance and phone bills.
I'm probably about $1,500 in debt right now, and it's just going to add up until I quit school. Unless I start stripping. But I'm too lazy to learn how to dance. So, I'll just be poor.

I still owe a little under $4k for my car, with about a year and a half left on the loan. I have never missed a payment, and pay all the rest of my bills like cell, food, college tuition, insurance, gas, etc. Yeah, my parents made sure I knew how to take care of myself at a young age (currently 19). Holding a steady job since I was 16 has been a plus though. I do get free housing, if you wondered.

I don't believe in debt. I'll always pay off my credit cards and outside of my school loans, I don't ever plan on being in debt ouside of a mortgage payment or a modest car payment.
I have two degrees and only about $6k left in school loans left to pay off with no credit card debt nor car loan payments left. I think I'm all good thus far.
I'm looking forward to home ownership though.
