i need major help asap

i have a 95 firebird v6 3.4 and it wont start it doesnt even click. its not the starter or the battery the power goes to the fuse box but thats as far as it goes, n e ideas on whats wrong, its been broke for a week now and i need help please thanks :) if u know anything my aim is hotothandle and yahoo is littlesweetky

Security light on??

nope it just happened all the sudden

any thing else work like radio head lights dash lights any sign of power to the in side of the car

yes all that works like normal

sounds like the vats system
generaly the wires brake at the ignition switch
there is a way around it you need a digital ohm meter and a little knowledg

Have another key to try?

i did it didnt work i am so stressed like we have no idea wats wrong, we called the security stystem place and they wont help us at all its passtime security and its one that stops the car from starting so thats what we think it is now because of it doing wierd stuff but we can find out how to test it if we take it off it will mess the car up is all they told us

is there an aftermarket security system on it

well if its the vats it lets u start the car after awhile... at least mines did. but if those wires snaped then i guess its over.

that vats system sucks it was messed up in my 94 firebird and it was a problem for my 89 iroc

try another battery... just to make sure


you check your alternator?

the problem i had too i fixed it though. take alchohol and put it on your key it cleans the vats system then put enough on it to go in to the key slot romove add eremove so on a ouple off times. also here is the key . the car come out with this security thing . if on your dash panel the word security stays lite up after key is on the security has not cleared it takes 3 minutes every time the key turns to the on position to reset itself it things its being altered it just needs cleaned . theirs more to this than i will explain . but remember do not try to restart the car until 3 minutes has passed cvlean the key transmitter thing thats on your key make sure you have waited 3 minutes and it will work. i promise it did for me enjoy their is also o mod to fix this their is a purple and white wire under yur dash in the center of the driver side the hard wire risitor wires in their search it out youll find it.

if its the vats go to the dealer get the number of your key there are 15 diffrent keys 1 - 15 when u get the number go to ebay get a bypass module for vats i got one it works good dont cost that much all u do is find the to wires under the dash and plug it up it bypass the vats it works good for me

Same thing happened to my 94 camaro : P vats bypass online cost me $17.50 off eBay though, and install is easy.

I didn't realize the vats was that big of a problem, I figured my car just sucked or something...

oh boy.. does this bring back bsd vats memories lol. had the same problem on my 91 f bird... yeah there is a bypass but a much simpler fix is to just replace with a resistor of the same value. look on line for the resistance values of your car.. should be 15 different ones. go to radio shack and get a 99 cent bag of resitors and make all the possible combonations. under the cover plate under the steering column is an orange wire.. strip it you will find two whit wires. that is the vats wire. try each resistor combo till you find the right one. hint.. when your trying the resistors.. the security light will blink then stay on if is the wrong value. wait 3 mins then try the next one
