1995 CV brake light switch instll question

hey I have a 95 Vic, stuck in park, removed the old one(brake swith) seems ok, but I bought a new one Before I install it, is there a procedure to adjusting it, or just pop it in and try to start it and get it out of gear???? I was lucky it happened in my drive way but pissed off as it wasnt in my garage and its freaking cold here in Ontario!!! any advice, tips, info is appreciated.Im :banghead: my head right now.

Start the car and let it idle, turn on heat and let the interior warm up before working on it. Turn the motor off while making the repair.

Did this brakelight switch fix your problem? I also have a 95 Crown Vic and I started it this morning, then when I went to leave it won't come out of park. The Gearshift on the column will not shift out of park??? I'm really new to this one. Please help.

Check to see if your brake lights work. You can also turn the key from lock to off, place the shifter in neutral, start car and place in gear and go.

It's been cold here so I just recently had a chance to change the Brakelight switch, and still don't have brakelights and it won't come out of park. Is there a relay or fuse or something maybe I'm missing. I tried to turn key from lock to off and it still won't shift. I guess I'm doing something wrong! The ignition cylinder has problems too, sometimes it will start without the key, I may not be hitting the marks correctly.

Actually I did fiddle with the Ignition switch and it did work. But still no brakelights.

Ok, I've read through the forum and haven't found this problem yet, I did find a fuse blown, replaced it and it immediately blew again. ??? Anyone have this happen yet? I think it's the #1 fuse and it is a 15 amp fuse??
