Next up
I know it's rough but I'm comfortable with it at this stage. I started with a box and then I used about 8 different reference pics then I scanned bits and resized and distorted stuff until I got it close to something that has the feeling I'm looking for.
This image has little bearing on the final piece as it is just a real rough sketch. The method I'll be using involves a complete redraw in Illustrator so all I need is a rough guide. Once in Illustrator I'll post a couple of steps so you can see how it comes together. It's kind of nice because I don't have to make lines straight and I don't have to worry about ellipses at this stage. The main thing I wanted to capture in this image was feeling.

The vehicle is owned by a guy I used to work with. His wife still works there and this will be a Christmas gift for him. He made it clear to me years ago that he wanted one of my drawings so I plan on trying to make it special for him.
Normally I would transfer the image at least one more time to really lock it down (see past posts) but I think the roughness of this pencil base has a lot of character and I think I want to try to translate as much of that as I can.
In any case I'm liking it, and it's not a VW.

I dig the hardwork and the details in that. And also, that is pretty thoughtful of you, man.

Gotta love it as I´m a Toyota fan but also fan of Off-road (since I own one Suzuki)

Great line work, like the realistic look of this one
and the ton of detailing you're adding to it.

Heck, Lemoris, I'd take the drawing "as is." I love the detail and look... I await the Illustration transformation. Robo
