I have a 01 EXP EB 110K miles. My driveway is on a hill and has a turn around that I back into. This requires me to make two sharp turns backing in and pulling out while on the hill. I am hearing a clunking noise some times while making this manuver. All other driving conditions are normal.

have you jacked it up to see if it is ball joint's?? i'm sure the lower one's are wore if you have never changed them..i just done a 2000 ford pick up bottom one's was wore bad..anyway you can go to auto zone and rent the press to press them in.when you take tool back they give all your money back incase you don't know that....good luck...

is it a 4x4? if it is there s a TSB on the front crossmember FORD try tightening the bolts for it if that doesn't work for recommends you put a compound between the crossmember and the chassis that will stop the popping(i believe its cold weld but not sure)

Well, 500 bucks replaced lower ball joints and front end alignment and it still clunks while turning. I saw for myself that the left lower ball joint had exessive play. But it didn't fix the problem. After I left the shop and drove thru town any noise dissappears. I went into a parking lot a cut sharp figure 8's and the noise is gone. But!! when I engage the 4 wheel drive the noise returns. The parking lot was covered in snow so its binding on dry pavement. I am suspecting one of the front drive shafts and or it's joints.
