3000gt vs. Foxbody

I was going to a friends house with two others in the car. ( one weighing 270lbs and one weighing I would guess 180 or so) and a fox body pulls up right next to me (we are going about 50 maybe a little less). I new exactly what was going to happen. I punch it as does he and I get about about 4 feet on him and then around 70 a car length (he was at my rear bumper). Then I let off the gas and braked seeing as how we were in a 40mph sone fines double construction area and he keeps on goin. (w/e) So I figured I would share a new kill with my n/a 3/S. that is all.

I just put in a new 6G72 into it. No turbos or anything. Here is a pic of what it looked like except for the racing stripes. It just has K&N filter and I removed the resonator so nothing major at all.

Ahhh the 4 eye fox, I think they only had 180 or so HP.

Actually they had:
200 HP @ 4000 RPM
285 ft/lb @ 3000 RPM

If it was that exact nose than it was either an 85 or 86. If it had the grill mesh look to it than it would have been earlier and weaker. 87 had a pretty much drastically different front end.

Yeah that is exactly the front end it had. Like I said it was identical to the one in the pic except for the stripes and of course the afermarket wheels ,etc.

wait did they really have 285 for torque? if they did it really doesnt show...0-60 in 6.5 seconds.....though they are mod happy engines

^^ That was the model. However with a car that old you never know how much compression that motor has left, if something isn't running right, etc.

Even the later Fox bodies amd the SN95's can be beat by NA DOHC 3s's.

Those mustangs had horribly geared rear ends.

^^^that must be it, cause when the jetta was stock i was able to beat them and even one with an X-pipe on it, though i dont know how much those add. Cause I mean to have 285 for tq and only have a 0-60 of 6.5 is pretty bad, what was the 1/4 times stock on those? mid 15's?

basically yes, they are mod happy. but that doesnt mean they are super fast stock. from the factory i believe they have 2.73 gears, which is aweful.
