Gas Gauge Pinned

Hello all,

Just bought a 97 TS and I see the fuel gauge is pinned WAY past full. Before I start taking things apart, any ideas?
Also, any interesting things or fixes I need to know about this particular year vehicle?

Thanks as always!

My 97 does the same thing when full, the gauge sits at about 2-3 o'clock but comes back down and operates normally otherwise. I did the math with the gallons it takes to fill it from half until the pump stops and the gauge is actually fairly accurate.

For some reason the gauge is not linear compared to the amount of fuel in the tank, but half means half, and empty means empty, but full means off the chart.. Go figure..

I just live with it, i don't put much faith in gas gauges anyway, i prefer to watch the gallons used indication on the upper display which has always been far more accurate and i know how many days it usually takes to burn off a half tank, etc.

Now if yours is stuck over there and the tank is not full, then thats an entirely different story! Could be a bad ground for the gauge wiring at the tank, the sender in the tank could be bad, just about anything at that point.

Interesting enough my gauge just pinned today.. Its kaput, the sender unit is showing open with an ohm meter. On to replacing it now...
