egr question

I recently replaced the injectors on my 97 with generic Accel 17lbs injectors.
Ever since, I have had an Emissions and EGR valve low flow error code. 401 and 420 I think.

Outside of occasionally long crank time to start, car seems to run ok.

Think the injectors could be causing this?

you could check to make sure that when you removed the intake plenum that you scraped off all the olde EGR gaskets on both sides, and got two new gaskets. One for the pipes, and one for the EGR Itself. You can also remove the EGR again, and clean the Passageways with come carb cleaner. Even possably start the car with the egr off to blow out any built up carbon. This creates a huge exhaust and vacuum leak, so dont run it more than like 2 seconds.

Thanks for the reply Blake

Didn’t run it without the EGR but did try your advice on cleaning and checked the gaskets which looked ok. Also went to the junk yard and got another EGR and tried that. Hasn’t been 10 starts yet (to clear the code) but still starts and runs the same.

420 is a catylytic efficiency code do search and you will find plenty of info on this difficult to pinpoint code problem.

Well 3 weeks later I found a tube that runs just upstream of the throttlebody to the rear valve cover loose on the back side. I think it was throwing the mass air flow off.

thanks again for everyones help!
