My 2000 Grand Am (V6) started to get hot yesterday & heater quit working at the same time. It's also spewing alot of fluid from the resivoir. However the carpet in the car is not wet, so im not sure if its the heater core. Any help will be appreciated

Welcome to AF!!

There are several possibilities here. First, the heater core may in fact be plugged but you may need to remove it to find out although you can pull the hoses from the core to see if the water is flowing through it. I would suspect that you may have a water pump issue or you may have developed a thermostat problem that caused the engine to get hot. Personally, I would change the thermostat with a new one refill the system, making sure to get the air out of the system before doing anything with the heater core. No flow through the thermostat would cause you not to have heat.
