Update software?

Is their any chance for whoever owns a 2001 eclipse to update the sportronic software? I've been using sportronic lately in my GT and i've been noticing the long shift times as opposed to other sport shift cars like Audi and Mercedes. I also realize that the Eclipse is an econ/sports car so i shouldnt expect much for the price range. But if anyone has ideas, I would greatly appreciate.

I dont think it has anything to do with the electronics of the car, I think it is simply that the transmission doesnt want to shift any faster than it already is. Faster shifts usually mean harder shifts, and if the trans wasnt built to take it it could break.

you could try a high stall torque converter, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will shift all that much faster, it'll just put the power more effectively to the ground.

the ecu adapts to the way you drive so ie: pound the gas alot and the car wont shift till high rev. but drive conservitve and the car will shift early.

oh so when your driving in sportronic mode when you tell the car to upshift it wont right away.

that just has to do with the fact that our entire car costs as much as a mercedes/ferarri transmission....i dont think there is anything you can do about it besides get used to it, or buy a 5 speed. Mine shifts whenever I want to, and I can change how hard it shifts by changing how hard I let out the clutch...its great.

to be honest, the sporties are a really strong transmission and the only thing wrong with them is their speed and effectiveness on getting power to the ground.
a high stall torque converter will make your car as fast as a 5 speed with no other modification, and even faster b/c there isn't any driver error.
nextly, i'd get an LSD if you plan on modifying the car.
A guy i kno in town with a ripp stage 3 setup has a STOCK transmission. and it held 383whp and some odd amount of torque. so dont' think it's a bad trans, it's just not put to good use.
