According to this website: http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troubleshooting/l/bl_dtcs_54a.htm
It tells u how to get the codes but not realy specific. It sais to place a wire between the diagnostic plug and the STI (self test input selector) but where is the sti located? Once i get the wire connected from the diagnostic plug to the sti connector then how do i read the codes? from the check engine light blinking? How does the pattern work?
Now below there diagram they use a voltmeter. Is the voltmeter used for diagnosis when the check engine light comes on?
In lame terms. Id like to get codes but am uncertain how to do this and the website i provided doesnt really go into detail. Its shows the diagnostics for a 94 taurus and mines a 95 ford taurus which i asume is the same cause they started obd II in the 96 models. Thanx for any response given.

Go to this link for the 1995: http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troubleshooting/l/bl_dtcs_70a.htm

I'm not really sure how much more detail the website could go into. If you want to read the codes using the Check Engine Light, you use the jumper wire. If you want to read the codes on an analog voltmeter, you use the multimeter and the Self-Test Output terminal. In the diagrams at the link, not the orientation of the diagnostic plug.

The diagnostic connector will be located under the hood, near one of the strut towers or at the firewall (typcially near the passenger side of the engine compartment). It may be installed in a protective cover labeled "EEC." The location may vary slightly from one model to the next.

There is also a bit more explanation of the lamp pulses/analog meter swings at http://autorepair.about.com/library/a/1i/bl804i.htm

Thanx alot for the info. I think i got it but where exactly is the STI (self test input connector) located? Is it in the same location as the diagnostic plug? Thanx again for the heads up.

It will be a pigtail in the same wiring harness with about 3 inches of wiring length. It is a single wire/single terminal connector. If your EEC diagnostic connector was located in a holder/housing, usually the STI connector will also be in the same housing. The connector diagrams are quite representative of what the actual connectors look like.
