I know this has been asked before but i need assistance. I have a 93 yj 6cylinder just rebuilt the engine great shape minus the body. The body has serious rust and holes. Just recently acquired an 87 yj with a 4cylinder, dead engine etc but with a perfect body. Basically i want to put everything from the 93 into the 87, however the motor mounts are off by about 3 inches. What all do i need to consider in doing this task. I am willing to spend the $ and the time to complete this, what else am i going to need to take from the 93 (other than engine, tranny and radiator) and what is my solution to the motor mount issue. Thanks!

you will need to start with relocating the motor mounts. you can cut the mounts from the 6cyl jeep and weld them in to place. you may need to do alittle fabrication to get them lined up and mounted secure enought to support the motor.
I am not sure when the engine management computers came in to play with the Jeeps but if the new motr uses a computer that will have to be swapped as well along with the wireing harness.
You best bet, assuming the electronics are good in the 6cyl Jeep is to gut the older one and transfer everything to it from the newer one. Or you could just scrap the old jeep and buy a fiberglass tub for the newer one. will be less work in the long run. its easier to swap bodies than running gear

Good Luck

why dont you just swap the bodys? not too mnay bolts holding that body onto the frame and get 4 of your buddys can just lift it right off and put it on the other frame =-) tis what we did granted the circumstances were different
