What is it with GM? 1998-2003 Blazers, front wheel bearings go at 60K like clock work, fuel pumps go at 80K to 120K and start with fuel gauge problems, constant high speed vibrations problems, etc .. "Like a Rock" my ass ...
It's not like the genuises at GM have been making the Blazer for a year now. It's been over a decade since they started making it for crying out loud.
Too freakin much and they wonder why Kerkorian sold all of his 10% stake in GM today ....

Anyway, I'll give this company a mention since Howard at the company was more than helpful at getting me a Delphi Fuel Pump Module GM part# 25176789, Delphi part# FG0052 at a reasonable price of $250 and getting it to me in two days for my Blazer .... I highly recommend them ...

Update .... www.GetGMParts.com (Actually they're The Parts Authority in New York City) never shipped the pump like promised Friday.
Talked to them Monday and they said they'd Overnight it for their shipping mistake, which they never did. Why they didn't do like they said they would do is beyond me? They simply reshipped it DHL Ground Monday for delivery in Maryland supposedly on Tuesday by DHLs ground transit maps. I guess DHL ground transit map times are pretty much useless at this point, huh? They claim to guarantee nothing on ground shipments and they're very very very sorry for the inconvience. Whoopie !!!
Now it's Tuesday and DHL, who picked up the pump Monday night at 6PM doesn't even know where the pump is. They think it's somewhere in New York but they can't tell me where.
I'll let you know if and when I ever actually get the fuel pump ....

Howard called me back within the hour of this post and overnighted another via Fedex. I'll let you know tomorrow if I get it ...
To be honest, Howard at GetGMParts.com has been MORE than helpful but as you know, shit happens ...
Anyway, I'll let you know if I get, at this point "them", since now there's, two pumps, in route to me.
Honestly folks, he's gone out of his way to help me but as I'm sure he would agree with me, I still have no fuel pump(s) and this started out Friday with a fuel pump being shipped to me on Friday for delivery in Maryland on Monday.
I'll let you know but I can say at this point, Howard's tried his best to help me.

you can get a walbro "mustang" fuel pump for about $80 all over the `net and at parts stores and it will install in place of the stock fuel pump, just have to splice the wires to the GM connector on your old pump.

Too freakin much and they wonder why Kerkorian sold all of his 10% stake in GM today ....
About the only thing the General makes on these nowadays are the sheet metal stampings and the motor assembly. Everything else is done by independant contractors; Frame, Interior, engine parts, etc.
Now, as for getgmparts.com. I saw that they had some really cheap prices. I guess I know why now. I had asked on a different web site about their reliability, and I got a response back that they're cheap, but slow.
I ended up getting a Delphi pump for my '97 from the local Napa dealer for $300.00 and some change. Still cheaper than a dealer ($480.00), and I had it the next day. Best bet for Genuine GM parts is gmpartsdirect.com - which is actually Flood Chevrolet in NC.

Final Update ... Howard at getgmparts.com went out of his way and overnighted another pump to me at his own cost via FedEx Early AM delivery and it came today as promised !!! He even called me afterhours at 7 PM at night to tell me he had sent his driver to the FedEx office to get another pump to me ! Try getting that level of customer care from another company on the web ! The initial shipping mistake aside on Friday which can happen to anyone shipping a large volume of packages daily, he's been great during this whole thing and has called me numerous times to help and ask for an update on the shipping problem. He went way above and beyond what I would expect an internet seller to do and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again ...
BTW, as of Wendesday at 4PM, DHL Express still has no idea where the first pump is which they picked up for delivery Monday at 6pm to be delivered on Tuesday.

Well the fuel pump's in and it's running but now I have a code coming back for a "misfire on the number 5 cylinder" which I didn't have prior to the pump going up. The repair shop switched the 4 and 5 cylinder plugs and still the same misfire on 5. Wires, cap and rotor were all replaced 10K ago so they doubt it's that but are going to check them. They haven't exhausted all possiblities but mentioned a possible problem with the fuel injector for cylinder 5 and of course the injectors are all inside the manifold so that means removing the manifold. At this point, if I had to bet, since it wasn't misfiring prior to the pump going out, I'd bet the injector went when it went dry after the pump went up.
Any thoughts ?

I too was pleased with my getgmparts.com shopping experience. :)
The easy things would be to swap the #5 wire with another (and check that it didn't melt against the exhaust manifold or something), and try a fuel injector cleaner. Also try a noid light on that injector.
Much cheaper than paying someone to pull that intake manifold.

Wires all fine as is the cap and the plugs ....
It was running Perfect prior to the pump going out and being replaced now it runs horrible and has a bad misfire on the 5 cylinder. The shop said there's no absolute way to test the injector in 5 but suspect that's the problem.
Any other suggestions other than pulling the plenum and replacing the injector hoping it's the problem?
Has anyone heard of this type of problem after a pump went bad and was replaced?

Anyone know the average labor hours to install a new injector in a 2000 Blazer 4.3L V6? I'm guessing in the range of 4-5 hours but I'm not sure.
Also, I found the injectors listed at http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?parttype=677&ptset=A&searchfor=Fuel+Injector but I'm not sure of the difference in the parts listed.
One is about $80 and reads "Fuel Injector: Replacement Poppet Nozzle For Central Sequential Fuel Injection (Scpi) Design. "
The other is $260 and reads " Fuel Injector: Central Sequential Fuel Injection (Scpi) Conversion To Multiport Fuel Injection"
Thanks for any responses ahead of time ...

Fuel pump replaced which cured the hard start problem. Injector on the five cylinder replaced which obviously went when the pump went. Fuel regulator replaced too. No check engine light now but a slight hesitation on acceleration from a dead stop that I didn't have prior to all of this. It just has a dead spot on acceleration from a stand still stop. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor and fuel filter all new at 5K and the throttle body was cleaned.
I'm at a loss at this point with no codes to go on. It didn't do this prior to the pump going and causing the injector to go too ....
Any suggestions on what to check at this point ????

Thought you said 10k you did the cap and rotor and such?
Also, what plugs did you use? Did you change the fuel filter?

Sorry, I pulled the paper work since my first post and it was roughly 5K ago. I was just guessing originally but knew it wasn't long enough ago for a chance at any of it likely being bad already. Anyway, I used AC/Delco wires, cap, rotor, and platinum plugs and fuel filter. I'm pretty sure at this point that it's not electrical related but I'm open to any suggestions. From what I've read here I'm leaning toward the CPI Injector. Also, I'm not sure at this point, I need to use the tripometer on my next fill up but I'd bet the fuel mileage is down. It seems like it's using alot of fuel and I have no obvious fuel smell indicating any leaks that I can see. It just went flat on it's face today on light acceleration. It doesn't do it consistently every time but enough that I have no confidence if trying to make a left turn across traffic that it's not going to stall and I'll get broadsided.
And it did none of this prior to the pump going out and being replaced along with the number 5 injector and fuel regulator.
Thanks for your response ....

It is not a CPI injector, you don't have a CPI injector so make sure you read treads thoroughly.
The check engine light has to be on. Is it?

No check engine light. So my 2000 Blazer has no CPI and no nut kit I've seen mentioned in other threads? Sorry if I misread the posts.

Nope, only 1992-1995 have the CPI and nut kit.
What platinum plugs did you use, AC Delco or some other brand?
Have you installed a K&N filter lately?
You might want to clean your MAF sensor and reinstall. Just spray brake cleaner through the inner portion of it to clean off the junk off the sensor wires inside.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I do have a K&N filter but I last oiled it in the summer and I used the exact replacement AC/Delco platinums.
Anyway, the Service Engine light came on today 5 minutes after filling up with Sunoco 87 octane. I've had the light come on in the past two times after a fill up about a year ago and it went off shortly after that. Hopefully it will return a useful code to point to what's happening and not be related to the fill up. I'll have the codes read hopefully tomorrow, if not, I just purchased a OBD-II scanner which should arrive next Tuesday. I'll let you know what I find.
Also, I'm going to replace the fuel filter for the heck of it since the tank was dropped and moved around when the pump was replaced. I'm thinking dirt in the bottom of the tank could have been disturbed. It's a long shot but the filters cheap enough and it can't hurt to try it.
At this point, my best guess is it's starving for gas under light acceleration when it bogs down versus too much gas since if I press harder on the pedal it stops bogging down and moves forward fine. I would think if it was getting too much gas, it would get worse if I pressed harder on the pedal at that point. It also doesn't do it consistently. Today for instance it did it once and hasn't done it since. The day before it happened about 3 times and was as worse as it's been when I was on an uphill incline and tried to start from a dead stop with a light pedal.
I'll also clean the MAF like you suggested. Just to be sure, the MAF is in the intake hose between the filter hose and the hose leading to the throttle body. It has the screen in it with a small wire in the middle, is that correct?

Did you overfill the tank?
Remember to only fill until it clicks off and then top off to the next dollar.

Hi, I bought this OBD II reader and should have it by Tuesday.
Any comments on it? Is it a good reader? I didn't want to lay out hundreds of dollars for something I'd use very little but I also wanted to try and get a decent reader. I hope I made a good choice.
Thanks for any comments ...

The code came back as a PO174 ...
It indicates cleaning the MAF sensor and replacing the fuel filter which I will do this weekend.
Just to be sure, the MAF sensor is in the intake hose, between the throttle body and the filter housing ... It's the window screen like unit with a wire running into it's center and cross hairs? Is that correct?
I just cleaned the MAF and to be honest, it didn't look dirty at all. I guess we'll see what happens.
BTW, love the ODB II reader, it seems to be quite nice for $100 ...

Mystery solved, thanks for the responses.
Not sure why I didn't notice it earlier but the repair shop that replaced the fuel injector in cylinder 5 left the hose to the PCV valve disconnected from the intake housing.
I discovered it yesterday after cleaning the MAF and looking for vacuum leaks and haven't had a problem since ...
Now I'll be replacing the cruddy roof rack with a new one I found on EBay for $57 which included shipping and I'll be happy. I just hope the torx screws aren't as stubborn as I've heard they can be. For anyone interested, the company has plenty of the roof racks and I was surprised to find that it was BRAND NEW when I got it !!

Just replaced the roof rack and it was a breeze. The factory had coated the screws with thread ease and they came out clean. I worked on the GM assembly line in the 80's so I was surprised to see they've gotten more user friendly since then. Back in the 80's we just used an air gun and drilled the crap together without any thread ease.
Anyway, I'm a happy camper, it's running great and starting on the first try since the fuel pump was replaced and I actually know how much fuel I have in the tank now !
Life's great !!!
