Coolant System

I have a 98 SE with a 2.4. I just changed the heater core and serviced the system with antifreeze but I still have a low coolant light. The temp gauge reads good and it blows heat. I don't have a shop manual and I am wondering if there is a procedure to bleed it. Can anyone help?

I agree it is not a fun job. The coolant light is probably related to air in the system. There should be a bleeder screw on the top of the upper radiator hose connection to the block that will allow you to bleed the system. I suggest that you bleed it with the nose of the car pointing up hill as that will facilitate the air removal.

the Low collant light would come on and stay on most of the time on my '02 3.8, even with it filled. I eventually took the sensor out of the radiator and cleaned the sensor well and the sensor probe (it seems the Dexcool has a tendency to gel and coat things in the system) and now it appears to work fine, in that in never comes on now while the system is full of coolant. You could always just unplug the sensor if the light bothers you. They say that doing this will not throw a code, not sure about that as I have not tried it but definately try cleaning the sensor before you change it.
