i was wondering how hard it would be to change the drums to discs. it should just be the matter of buying a 2 rear disc hubs and rotors etc. Is there any thing tha i should know about??

I don't believe any Alero's have rear drum brakes. My 99 GX (low on the totem pole model) has rear discs. I don't believe GM reverted to rear drums in the later models, but I could be incorrect.

You would need more then just the hub rotor.
Part of the suspension is a little different, I think...

The brake lines are also longer with disc brakes.
I havent seen any kits for the Alero but I'm sure its been done.

On the later models (2002 on) some of them had rear drums.

My apologies to all. I didn't realize that GM had changed things. Seems kind of strange that they regressed to drum brakes on some models in the middle of the cars life.

I figured if my base model (literally - hardly any options on the sheet at all) 99 had rear discs then they all would. Learn something new every day I guess.

On 99-01 Grand ams the SE usually had drums in the rear and disc in front.
The GTs have 4 wheel disc.
Later models I think both had disc.

So I'm sure Aleros were the same, some had drums and some didnt.

yoslvr442, Check salvage yards and or ebay and find the parts you need that way.
Its not worth buying new parts for this upgrade.

Good Hunting !
