I have read many threads and you guys have convinced me a worn water pump is causing my no heat problem. I have flushed the heater core and will have heat for awhile but it is getting worse. Water line going into the heater core is hot and the return is cold. My queastion is, is the new or rebuilt water pump different or is the impeller made of different material so the blades do not wear again? Who makes the best pump?
Thank you

The OEM will be the same as the first one, so it will wear the same. A rebuilt one might use different material so the odds are it 'could' be better. The only way to know for sure would be to compare them side by side.

I bought the lifetime warranty one from the local parts store. I think it ran $30 or so. There was so little left of my old one I couldn't compare them.

Got a new pump at Napa and it had a steel impeller.
Old water still had a good impeller that was also steel. The bearing sounded rough though so not all is lost.
Flushed the heater core and had heat again. Apparently Ford uses the heater core as a coolant filter.

There is a TSB concerning the cooling system and the Brown Sludge that develops. Part of it is electrolysis.
The TSB procedures are roughly
Flush with chemical treatment.
Replace waterpump
Ground heater core to water pump
Add bypass hose that keeps coolant ciruclating to the heater core at all times.
This kit used to be performed free but that time has passed.
The Bypass and the ground were on my 99 but the brown sludge still appeared.
I flushed it several times only for it to return until I changed the water pump

Thank you Mike
You don't happen to know the number of the TSB.
I'm going to give that a try.
Thanks again
