89 camaro headlight problem

my headlights kick on and off. I changed the switch but it didnt take care of the problem. If I leave the lights off for a little while the internal circuit breaker in the switch resets and the lightd come back on. I have disconnected the headlights one at a time but the breaker still kicks out. Any info on what to look for would be appreciated. Thanks Mick

Sounds like a short in the thingy in the steering column that controls the turn signal and the hi-beams on/off, I think it's called the multi-function switch.
