homelink wiring question

Ok I installed and hooked it up, only used the orange and black wires with black being negative, so orange is 12 volts. I left the white wire unhooked.
It works great!
It came from a 99 I think and my 97 shop manual doesn't show it in the wiring diagrams.
I'm still curious about what the white wire is for if anyone has a newer manual.
My overhead has lights so only the orange and black were there anyway.

Hi,
I picked up a three button homelink that mounts into the overhead console, and it has three wires to it. It's from a 99? tahoe.
What are the connections?
Orange, black, white.
Thanks,
Bob B

It's a three button unit that fits into the overhead console and you program it with the old loose garage door opener, so you don't have to fiddle around with the loose one. You can progam some of the buttons to turn on lights, or other doors, or gates.
