What kind of clutch would be best for my 92 talon tsi. It is my daily driver, and i am looking to put a new clutch in that would be street friendly and still yet really strong so it will withstand my driving :grinyes:. It also needs to support about 350HP ( That is not how much i got but i am trying to get there).

2600 or something equivilant should be good for that... Street disc will be fine for a 350hp too...

Should i get a flywheel while i have it taken apart?

I would... Go with a chromolly one and not aluminum. It'll withstand the higher RPM's better.

Awsome.. ok is this a good way to tell if my flywheel is a 6 bolt or a 7?

Thats one way I guess... I remember there being a thread about how to tell the difference but I can't seem to find it right now... I'll look around a little bit more for it in the morning.

Whenever the time comes to get a new clutch, I'm going with Spec. Most likely the stage 2. I hear good things about them!

I run a ACT 2600# clutch with a street disk and an 8.5lbs Fidanza Aluminum flywheel. I have been very happy with the combination. I have heard bad things from a couple people about fidanza, I personally have never had a bad experience with them

What is the differences in what the flywheel is made out of?

I have heard aluminum will occasionally shatter at high RPMs whereas the chromoly or whatever ones hold together better. I am going to use which ever one my buddy has that he will sell me for cheap (pretty sure its a fidanza one) but I am definately going to rig up a shatter shield. Wouldn't that be the tits, all of a sudden KA BOOM right at like 8 grand when you are shifting.

Exactly why I went with a chromolly one... :)

I'm really not looking forward to installing a new clutch. I'm on barrowed time with my current setup and stock clutch. From what kevin has explaind, and I understand it clearly, having a light weight flywheel is actually a downgrade at the track. At least as AWD launching and shifting is concerned.

I'm thinking ACT 2600 or 2900. I think I'll go with the 2900 becasue its $60 more and I'll be running a direct 100 shot after the first of the year..
