We had this discussion a while back, you will have to do a search.
It is not recommended to use non-Mopar fluid in the manual transaxles.
There are specific reasons.
These tranmissions were designed around certain fluid characteristics. One of those is a friction modifier only found in the Mopar fluid.

mopar 7176 is what comes from the factory in pre 2001 manuals

Redline MTX fluid is a great, cheaper substitute to use in the manual trannies. The friction modifiers are in ATX fluid, not MTX fluid.

what came out of the transmission looked like gear oil. any ideas what the lubricant was???

If it was the original fluid, then it's the semi-synthetic fluid available at the dealer, p/n 4874465.
