I have a 03 fx4 with a 4.0, does anybody know where the air temperature sensor is? I have one of those resistors to plug in there but can't find where it is?

I don't know exactly about your particular model, but on many recent models the IAT and the MAF sensor have been mounted together on the same rubber insert that goes in the intake air filter housing. Most folks just refer to the dual purpose plug as the "MAF sensor", but you will find two elements on it.

I've got a '99 Ranger 4.0L and the IAT sensor is located along the lenght of the intake tube running across the front from the air intake chamber to the throttle. The MAF sensor is right after the air intake housing while the IAT is towards the end nearer inthe throttle.

Let us know how the resistor works out. I've heard of the mod working, but it came down to getting the right resistance to get a increase. I've thought about trying a variable resistor, but never got around to it.
