On my way home tonight and looked down to see my Riv crank over to 151K mi... I can't believe how nice this thing drives and how trouble free she has been for me for this year I've owned it. I've put on 40K in the last 12 months, and all I have had to replace is plugs and wires, a few light bulbs, oil changes, filters, and a flat tire. I wish could say that about all my cars with high miles on them!
I'm really impressed with the quality of this Buick, first one I've ever owned. Only complaint I have is poor window seals... If that's my only problem, I have no problem! :) I probably jinxed myself by starting this thread, but I just felt like I had to say how happy I was with Elvira. She still is one clean, dark, sleek, tire burning machine!

a well built car is hard to find, even in the new line-up of cars. the riviera's were something special...too bad they discontinued them :( glad to hear your happy with yours! mine has been trouble free also for 122k mi. ...occasionaly you hear of a lemon riviera, but not often.
p.s. 40k in 12 months WOW...i drive less than 9k in a year (its all about the restoration for me :)

Yes, it's true... There are a lot of them out there that don't perform that well up to this kind of mileage. My 2000 Grand Prix seemed to need to point that out to me last night. Maybe I jinxed myself on THAT car by typing this thread!! :)
My daughter came home and told me it was making a strange whining noise. So I took it out and sure enough, the trans seems to be making quite a loud whining noise, varying with the engine speed and it is shifting hard also. :( This weekends project now...
Yes, the 120 mi. round trip to work each day stacks up fast. If I have to make a trip or two to suppliers during the week, I'll tank up twice during the week! I have only taken one long trip with the car, and that was about 1,800 miles to Wash D.C. this fall. The car was fantastic and got a record 31.2 MPG!

 Your 98 looks GREAT in black! Mine is bright white diamond. At 103k miles, I don't have any issues with the window seals. Could be it's time to replace the weatherstripping on yours, with those miles? Or maybe the door hinges are worn, and those long heavy doors are sagging a bit?
I just bought mine in August, my first late model Buick. I'm very impressed with the quality, inside and out. Now my wife wants one, instead of her van...

Yup, My wife and kids are always trying to snag my car for a quick cruise! I can't believe we have 3 black vehicles now, what was I thinking!! It is so tough to keep them clean... I do love the diamond white ones also. This is still my favorite pic of the Riv.

Those window seals may be roasted from being on a black car, but they still feel soft. I think I will replace them in the Spring though... I did adjust the door catch on the passenger side and it helped a little. Door hiinges seem tight yet.
