Replaced head on 96 corsica 2.2 with a brand new from the parts store. Got everything put back together and started putting coolant in the radiator. came back out to car with more coolant and noticed that coolant was just running out from behind the belt tensioner. Has anyone else encountered this problem or does anyone have any ideas. Would like any suggestions before I start tearing the whole thing down again. Thanks a bunch

did you have your head casting # with you when you ordered the head? I assume you bought the correct head gasket set? There were several non-interchangable head designs on the 2.2L through the years.

I replaced the head due to it being cracked and leaking colant into the oil. I gave them the number off the original head when I ordered the new one because there were 2 different numbers for that year corsica. The guy ordered the gasket set that was showing for that head. Like I said I put everything back together and torqued to spec. The only thing I hadn't hooked up yet was the throttle linkage. Still had valve cover off to checker rocker arms. Started adding coolant and the next thing I see is coolant pouring out from behind the belt tensioner. Have had ice and snow last two days so haven't pulled of tensioner and bracket yet to see if I can see anything. Think I will go do that now. Thanks for your guy's help it is greatly appreciated.

I work in the parts business, so if you can, get me the brandnames and part numbers for both the head ( OEM casting #'s too) and the gasket set. I will check to be sure you got the right parts. If they check out, did you follow the torque specs in a repair manual, and if so, what brand manual? Lastly, did you replace the head bolts too? They are torque to yeild and cannot be reused on your particular engine.
