OEM Fog Lights

My 2001 Silverado didn't come through with the factory fog lights. I've always been interested in getting them but the high price from the dealer has always stopped me. I recentely found an OEM style manufacturered to the exact specs of the stock ones but at a fraction of the cost. Reviews are high on them. Does anyone know what kind of plug/harness is connected to the fog lamps? Is it a plug or would they jsut come with cut wires to hardwire in?

Is it a special plug that would plug into something put on at the factory or is it something I can just hard wire?

If there is a certain plug for them to hook into, I guess the real question is this....

If my truck didn't have them installed at the factory, would there still be a plug in that location for me to add them later, or am I SOL for wiring new ones in if there's no plug?

Thanks!

Check out the thread below. This kit was OEM off of eBay. Everything was there. I'm pretty sure your '01 will be the same. Before you go looking, get a kit part number from your dealer so you know what your looking for. Don't know what the after market kits include.

Thanks guys!

I found some info online about full kits, the one says that you have to get the dealer to re-program your BCM to accept the fog lights, since it's not programmed already to have them. I posted this in that other thread but I'll do it again. Did anyone ever have to have their BCM re-programmed?

Thanks!

Why not just get the factory style fog lights and wire them your self, you can get a lamp wiring kit from KC, or just about any other aux light mfg. Or just build the wiring kit your self, you will need a switch, a relay, wire, an inline fuse and connectors. That way you don't have to worry about having the bcm reprogrammed.

Did anyone ever have to have their BCM re-programmed? The '03 Sierra did not require a BCM reprogram for the OEM lights.........Steve

Fellas, Fellas, Fellas.

Don't waste your money on these. I have a set and they are useless. The headlights totally wash them out. I would use that money you are going to spend on those and upgrade to the Piaa Valance Kit.

Or even one of these

I plan on upgrading mine maybe next year to one of those Piaa Kit's; I though about going with the chrome replacement but, with the salt and everything else up here I think I'll just stick with plastic.

Just my :2cents: worth.
