Can the EGR valve on an 93, 3.8 APV be cleaned?

Failure of EGR valve is rarely of that mild nature...and the chance of removing the valve without damage is slight. IN my case the valve itself had one section inoperative for years and at the end it had virtually come apart. Removing the studs proved impossible so I cut them and drilled through the adaptor and used bolt and nut instead. THey are inexpensive on e-bay..in my case was near 300$ aftermarket and >$400 dealer in Canada, got one totally similar to original at $105$ Cdn including handling and crossborder broker fees.
Be careful in pulling the plug: I had pulled a little hard and one conductor - the 12V supply - had come out slightly and made no contact..so I had all whistles and bells - well codes 53,54,55,56 . ALl came to rest after conductor was reinserted fully.

...mm..by the way, in your previous thread, I had suggested the procedure for reading codes...did you get something from this?
