O2 Sensor?????

I went to autozone because my engine light was on and they said i needed a o2 sensor before the catayltic converter ????

i have a grand prix 98 GT and they also said i would need to buy 2 of them???? is this correct and if so is it expensive to get repaired :confused:

ALSO THE CODE I THINK WAS PO181

IS the 02 sensor affecting my gas mileage ???????

Double check the P0181 DTC. It sounds erroneous and is not an 02 sensor error.

An 02 sensor will affect fuel economy.

And remember a code does not say A 02 sensor is bad.
A code says check things out.
When you go back to get the code no for sure wright it down and post back.
And beware on free code checks. It sounds like they are giving you a snow job on buying 02 SENSORS.:grinyes: :lol:

Some parts places do offer free code checks. And also free repair advice. But beware. Just get the code no and post it back here and someone will help you.
They offer the free code checks in the hope of increasing there parts sales.
Almost all of them will also offer mechanical advice and some know what they are doing.
But just remember most of them are parts people pulling codes for free.
Not trained professional tech/mechanics. Even if they pull a 02-sensor code or another sensor related code it does always mean to replace that sensor and your problem will be fixed.
Please just get the code no and post it back here with engine size and we will help you.

BTW - You left out the part do not get a Bosch 02 sensor if the sensor proves to be bad or something like that. AC Delco only.

Finally, a '98 Grand Prix GT only has the normally aspirated Series II 3800 engine therefore, it is not necessary to ask engine size. FYI.

Like OEM dealer parts only hurt one time that cheap after market stuff will bit you in the rear may times.
