I am getting ready to buy a talon in the next 2 weekends (depending on how to money comes in). I just had a quick question about suspension, i found a nice 91 TSI AWD that is ready to run with the best of them, the only question i had was that the guy has welded some "Arm" (i cant figure out if he means to control arm or what) that makes the suspension in the back completely stiff, since i want a smooth ride for a daily driver i asked him if i could reverse the weld and he said i could put a new arm in or grind the weld and it would be back to normal. So basically my question is have any of you guys ever heard of this?, and if so what arm is he talking about and how easy/ how much will it be to replace it so the suspension floats again. Thank you very much.

no clue... ask him in detail, when you look at the car, ask him to show you what the hell hes talking about... thats the easiest way to know for sure :2cents:

Yea I would definatly check that out before buying it. Sounds like it was a track car. That thing would be ruff as hell on the road.

Are you sure he wasn't just talking about a sway bar or something that he permanently welded? I've never heard of anyone doing what he claims to have done.

His exact words to me where " (he was telling me all the mods) and... i welded the lower arm so that the car would launch better, i made the car to be a rally kinda car and the back end sways to much in the corner" he could be talking about damn near anything back there, all i know is that the back end is as stiff as a board and i want to make it float again. Im going to check it out this saturday with money in hand, if i like it i will buy it, if i dont then i wont. Im getting a 91 beacause it has the 6 bolt and is said to be beefy and has a less likely chance of crankwalk. (just figured id throw that in there for shits and giggles).

Hmmm. Heres what I bet he was talking about. I bet he welded bars from the frame to the rear end assembly (I dont know what the fuck its called, but those deals coming off the rear end diff) so the rear end suspension couldnt move, thus not allowing the suspension to squat. Sounds ghetto rigged as hell man, if he did that to the car, who knows what else he could have done to that poor car.
