I started my truck this morning to go to class, started normally for a second and stalled rather violently. The lights and everything worked, but wouldn't start at all, would only make clicking noises when trying. So my dad told me that a few battery cells might be bad so have it tested, and sure enough yes. So I replaced the battery and now the truck is closer to starting, and it's turning, but not catching. Any ideas? My dad thinks it perhaps could be flooded or something, how long would I have to let it sit? I've let it sit for an hour or so and still won't start. With the new battery it does sound like it's trying to start instead of just the clicking...
I'll provide more info if you need it.

If its badly flooded, put the pedal to the metal while cranking it over. This will put the ECM in flood clear mode and the injector(s) will not fire, allowing the engine to clear the flood while your turning it over. this will only help of course, if its only flooded.

Can someone help?????
Bomber wrote in about a 1997 blazer that quit running. and while reading some of the answers one said when you turn the key on you should here the fuel pump start and the check engine light and a few other ligts on the dash should come on. I turn my key on and get no lights at all. Also i can not even put the vehicle into neutral. if i try to start the blazer it starts to grinde a little and quits if you do this a while it may start. once it starts it seems to run fine.

Sounds like a problem in your ignition if you aren't powering up your dash, etc.
When you turn your key to "ignition on"
- dash lights come on (check engine, etc)
- radio, heater blower comes on (if its switched on)
- fuel pump primes to pressure (slight buzzing sound)
Next turn
- engages starter - turns engine
What worries me is your "grinding" comment - is this your starter doing this?

Is the new battery fully charged. Usually they aren't when you bring them home.

You need to list what year, make and model vehicle you have. Plus, it would be best to start a new thread rather than hijack this one.

Do the gas/fire test...
- Injectors should be straying out a cone of gas - pull up the breather and have someone turn the engine (no gas, pump, plugged filter, pump relay)
- hook up a timing light and check for a spark on number #1 (no fire - ignition module (i think still in 93s), bad coil, check ecm
