Sup guys...
Can my 99 Grand Am SE use a dual exhaust setup with the Flowmaster 80 series or do you recommend the single exhaust setup? I'm seriously considering it after hearing sound clips... and I'm gonna get a PCM for sure now too :) Thanks!

yes, yes and YES
lol
yes you can do a dual outlet setup with 80 series on your SE, I have it on mine :naughty:
It really is a preference though if you want dual or single, no hp gain difference. You can probly find a simple in out with any exhaust you choose from. IMO going bigger than 2.5" on the piping seems :gay: to much unless SC/Turbo or w/ headers :D

As for the PCM, ask me any Qs you have, I can more than likely answer them for you...
if I had a camera w/ me id go record my exhaust setup... =(

:) More than likely I'm going to turbo or SC someday (probably turbo cause it makes more sense to me on a FWD car...). I REALLY WANT HEADERS too! Where can I find headers for a V6? I looked in a lot of places and couldn't find them... also how much because I prolly can't afford them :uhoh:

My SE also has this set up and its great ! :grinyes:
If I go WOT in city limits, I could get a ticket its that loud :ylsuper:
The only headers I have seen are here;
http://www.headermania.com/ (http://www.headermania.com/)
They are harder to find everyday :banghead:

How much HP gain out of headers? And how's it affect sound?

OH it deaf-intly is louder and more get-up-&-goo!
To get the most HP for you $$ is to have a 62mm TB,
and a CAI(of coarse) and that 2.5" exhaust.
I bet you could get a ticket in W. Lfyt  :grinyes: :grinyes:
At least get Campussy'security out lookin for that V8 tearing up campus :D
I like the black ones w/ cat.
Mine are nickle, they used to look good, but I wrapped them in heat tape to keep all the heat in.
Remember though, if you plan on getting a turbo,
it comes with custom headers for the turbo.
SO you could always sell the old headers or something.

I'll probably just do NOS later on down the road cause it's cheaper. Dunno though :p Rather than turbo, I mean.

yuh.. +1 on this
Basically just TB and headers/cat and im done with this part... with the 2.5" piping I figure that'd be enough to support a nice setup with it all done... then hopefully move onto the MMS setup

I have an 03 GT and have the same exact muffler on mine.. I had the muffler shop remove the factory tips and put them back on the 80 series.. I wanted it to look completely factory until you hear me take off. The only problem was the new muffler seemed to sway back and fourth a little over speed bumps and sometimes tap the frame in the back near the bumper, but I fixed that by using a couple of tie wraps to help keep the muffler tight around the hangers.
At first the sound was a little too loud for my tastes so I got some carpet padding and installed it inside the trunk under the trunk lining and it helped insulate the muffler noise and road noise as well since there was hardly any insulation installed from the factory anyways. So I have had the muffler on about 3 years now and actually sounds better after it gets broken in IMO but enjoy.

did you put royal purple engine oil or do the transmission fluid w/ new filter?

Interesting idea, pretty secretive :naughty: .. the sway could of been bad hanger placement... mine are welded and tacked using new rubber hangers to hold it... it doesnt move at all

If your sister's Bonne has teh 3.8 or SC 3.8 probly not :(
Would be close though if hers is stock.
Royal Purple trans fluid is over $80 for 12 quarts(case) :yikes:
You would only need 7-8 for a fluid and filter change.

wow thats expensive...
I paid $140 to have my trans fluid swapped along with a new filter...
just doing a simple filter change and filling it back up with purple, no flushing =p
personally I like mobil1 full syn extended performance in the GA... feels pretty loose each time I change it... actually gotta do that soon here in Dec.
is there anything that'll clean out sludge build up and dump it into the oil filter?
