Two db drags this weekend and i was the underdog. Two 12" mtx 6000's and one power logic 450x2 amp and a second battery and a a cheap graphic equalizer is all i have. My numbers are damn good. In qual, i posted a 137.2. First round i hit a 135.6, wrong tracks. In the quater finals i hit a 139.9. Lost to the winner who was hitting a 145 with two tens and 1000 watts a piece to each speaker. The next event a posted a 139.3 in qual and in the the first round posted a 142.1! The semi finals i posted a 142.3. I did all of this a bad front windshield seal that bounces my front window.:sun:

that's jer dept. gunnmen. he has installed car audio the last 5 years so he can tell ya better than i can. one of these nights hit me up on aim after like 7-ish (west coast time) and i'll pick his brain for ya

you'll love db drags. if you can appreciate car audio then you will have a lot of fun. you can really bounce a sound wave in a hatch.

Ya, i pissed off a lot of people in mine. Nobody thought it was going to hit as hard as it did and the fact that i have less $500 dollars in my stero. I was beating people that had up to 3500 dollars in their steros. I loved it

How were you competing in the same class as someone who has almost 3 times the power that you had? DB drags are based on what kind of wattage you have in the car....

The first show had only three classes, 1-2 woffers, 3-4 woofers, and 4+ woofers. The second show had four classes, mini-street, street, outlaw, and super street. The second show didn't put you in a class till after you qualified. I was in regular street and still took fourth out of 10.

The classes at the DB Drags I went to, the classes were divided up on how much watts you have. I hit a 140.5 with 1 almost new 12" JL Audio W0, and 1 busted up 12" JL Audio W0, with a Planet Audio 60X2(120 bridged). Probably hit even harder with my Jensen 150X2(300 Bridged). One way to get more DB is have the box facing the front of the car with your seats folded down, should get you a little bit more db.

Here is a pic of the scoresheet http://www.geocities.com/twistedridezimages1/images/scoresheet14.jpg

All i gotta say is one studio500 ZAPCO and one (new) JL audio 12w6v2
in a hatch ....................... hits so hard

facing forward? We tried that and found that facing the speakers toward the hatch makes it hit louder. Just gotta make sure the hatch doesn't bounce

really? I think mine got louder facing the front, well either way works i guess, I always had mine facing the back for a long time. I do know folding the seats down helps out too though. that way they don't absorb a lot of the sound

This is what my freind and i found out. They don't measure sound, the bass waves bouncing off the windshield. By facing toward the back of the hatch, the bass waves had more time devolp and get a straight shot toward the windshield. Since my box in undersized for my speakers, we found a trick that gave me two more db for the 142. If you switch the polarity of the speakers, they will hit harder but not for long. We cooked one of my speakers and my friends equalizer and blew the box apart. Damn airleaks

You have a 450X2 amp right? how do you have the subs hooked up? I had mine wired in a bridged series. That how I got 140 out of a 60X2(120 bridged) amp. Now it kept over heating the amp and kept shutting itself off, but I expected that because it wasn't supposed to run like that. When I had my Jensen 300 in there, it never overheated and shut off, too bad I didn't get a DB test done before they ripped my subs and stereo off.
