'93 Won't Go Into 4WD

Hello. Please forgive me if this is an old topic, I went back 10 pages and didn't see a related thread.
I have a '93 Splash 4X4 with 3.0L motor. It doesn't seem to be going into 4WD even though the light by the push button is on. The same goes for the Low Range 4WD. The front tires don't seem to have any power. I'm not certain if I am supposed to be rolling or stopped when the button is pressed, but I used to own an Explorer of the same year and I think I was able to switch when rolling.
Is there a solenoid that may not be activation, even though the dash light shows 4WD? Could there be an easy fix? Or am I in for a wallet whipping?
Thanks for any help.

I have a 2wd drive ranger. but i have lingered around the forums for rangers long enough to know that 4 wd drive rangers dont have the best 4 wd system out there. that said, the fix most of the owners do is to switch the auto locking hubs out for manual hubs
i do have a kia sportage with the same problem as the rangers in the hubs and have found that switching out the auto hubs for manual hubs adequate for fixing the problem.

LOCKING HUBS! What an idiot I am. My truck has locking hubs! :banghead: Locked them in and switched to 4WD and the front wheels grabbed like advertised. D'OH! Thanks for the help!
