Helping more members

Not a "car" question per se but a question regarding using PDF files so that we can help more members. If there's a better forum to post this, then by all means mods please move as you see fit. Just curious as to why we can't directly post PDF files here :frown: My curiosity stems from my background where for over the last 20 years I have been the admin of over 9 forums on the net, and most of them use vB software as is used here. I also write hacks for vB and am a moderator for one the biggest vB support forums. I have never seen anyone ever have any kind of problems what so ever directly posting a PDF (there is even a hack that makes this part of the vB forum via thread tools). My main concern is helping as many members as possible. Sending a PDF via e-mail is fine and dandy for the first person who happens to ask for it, but what about someone who comes along later, say through the search function, and needs that same file available? There is a good chance that they won't get helped unless by chance that same person that sent it the first time just happens to read their thread. Just curious as to why this feature is not available so that we can help the greatest scope of members possible. Thanks :)

I think copyright issue.

Millermagic has pretty much nailed it. The information that is posted to the site can not be copywrited. If you are posting from factory manuals or DVD's, you have to be sure there is not a legal issue between the makers of the manuals and open posting of the information.
