my sister has a 03 v6 mustang, 5 speed. now the problem is every now and then the damn car will cut off for no reason at all. i mean all power gone. but while the car is still rollen, she can fire her right back up. she told me it happens when she down shifts sometimes, or when she is about to start rollen from a dead stop. the rpm's drop all the way down and off goes the car. crazy thing is the car never has a check engine light or anything, and we ran it for codes and nothing came back. now my baby is getting a new tranny built so i was driving it 2night, and at a stop light it cut off on me right when i was about to take off... the damn airbag light was on and flashing and it took 3 times for me to get her started. now im guessing maybe it could be the clutch, just throwing a guess out in the wind. so that leads me in here with u fine gentlemen since u all are the mustang experts. any ideas would be sweet right about now...thanks.

TPS maybe, or something else that is electronic? Not the clutch.

Also, down shifting puts undue wear on the drive train, and waste gas. Let the brakes do what they are intended for, stopping the car ;)

I posted this problem a couple years ago. What it is, is the car dies unexpectantly when slowing down or coming to a stop, for the most part. Bring it to the dealership and they will flash the computer, and voila the problem is gone.

It's going to be either the computer or a faulty ground. I'll would check the grounds first, especially the one from the engine to the chassis. If all the grounds are good, then take it to the dealer for them to readjust the idle control.
