Question about wheel fitments

Currently I have a 1996 T&C LXi which is in depserate need of tires for winter. The van came with 16" wheels 215/65/16 I found a guy selling a set of steels rims 14" 195/75/14 that came off of a 1996 Caravan 6cyl. I'm assuming since the caravan and t&c are virtually the same vehicle and the wheels came off the same yr vehicle they should fit on my T&C just fine. Am I wrong in assuming this?

All rims of any diameter will should interchange as long as they have the same bolt pattern. The problem I see here is the tires themselves. The 195/75/14 has a shorter overall diameter and smaller circumfrance than the 215/65/16. To keep your speedometer and odometer acurate, you will need to install 215/75/14 or 235/70/14 tires on the 14-inch steel rims.
Another alternative would be to get a set of 15-inch rims and install either 205/75/15 or 225/70/15 tires.
Then again, you could get a spare set of 16-inch rims and run a new set of 215/65/16 tires.
One more thing, if you have All Wheel Drive (AWD), you MUST put identical tires on all four corners to prevent AWD failure.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

I'm not really concerned about the speedo accuracy. Tires.com has a calculator that will show you the differences so ill be able to know. What i was concerned with was whether or not the T&C's ran larger brakes than the same yr V6 Caravan's. If not then ill get the 14's
